Seymour, IN — Police have determined that an online threat made this week against Seymour High School and one of its students originated in New York. Investigators obtained information from social media platforms that led them to a 15-year-old in Suffolk County on Long Island, New York. The juvenile reportedly admitted to the Suffolk County Police that he picked Seymour High School and the student at random. The suspect told detectives he never intended to carry out the threat, which was deleted shortly after it was posted on Instagram. Once they became aware of the threat, Seymour school officials took steps to ensure the safety of students and staff, and no one was in immediate danger. The case is being forwarded to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine if charges will be filed.
