Wildcats Douse Red Devils In Baseball DH

Franklin County started Saturday’s doubleheader with a walk-off win in the bottom of the 7th over Richmond, winning 9-8

Offensively, FC scattered 14 hits against Richmond. Senior Garrett Ertel recorded 3 hits while Joe Fields, Brant Ertel, Austin Short, and Garrison Siedling all had 2 hits each. After going into the bottom of the 7th down by 1 run, Siedling sparked a 7th inning rally by doubling to left. After tying the game, Garrett Ertel sent a pitch over the left fielder’s head to score the winning run.

Brady Brandenburg got the start and went 4 strong innings before being lifted from the game. After Joe Fields pitched in relief, Garrett Ertel came in in the 7th to record the 3rd out and getting credit for the win.

Franklin County got the 2nd win of the doubleheader Saturday to complete the sweep, beating Richmond 14-2 in 5 innings. The Wildcats used a huge 2nd inning, scoring 10 runs before Richmond could record an out.

Senior Connor Roleson went 5 innings, giving up just 4 hits while striking out 9 Red Devil batters. Both runs were unearned.

Offensively, FC was led by Chase Burton, Garrett Darwish, Garrett Ertel, and Remy Watters, all with 2 hits, with Ertel collecting 4 RBI’s.

FC will travel to East Central on Monday (4-5) to start conference play with the first pitch at 5:30 pm.
