Searches still continue for two missing southeastern Indiana people, of separate cases, in Decatur and Dearborn Counties.
On Saturday, water searches were conducted in 9 ponds and a lake for Donna Mitchell. The Searches were conducted along the path she would have taken on the night she went missing back in February of 2020. The family reports that there were no signs of Mitchell and rescuers believe they have exhausted the water search efforts and are confident in the results. A detective with the Indiana State Police joined in the search on Saturday and has taken over the case. Donna Mitchell has been missing since February 11, 2020.
Recently someone reportedly found an empty black Army sling backpack not far from where Johnny Werner disappeared in Dearborn County. Werner went missing on February 12, 2021. Officials have not confirmed that it is connected to the case, but family members have stated that it is a bag from their home.
Equusearch Midwest Chapter of Ohio was pack in the area on Saturday to search in Greensburg though no word if it was related to the search for Werner of Mitchell. Equusearch led the search for Werner in February after the initial reports of him missing. Everyone involved in the search wants Werner to know he is not in trouble, and they only want to confirm that he is safe.
Werner has brown eyes, light brown hair, is between 5′7″ and 5′9″, and is 220 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to call the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office at 812-537-3431.
