Dr. Larry George Weimer, 79, of Greensburg passed away on December 24, 2020 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 2, 1941 in Clinton County, Indiana, the son of George and Helen (Douglas) Weimer. He had a brother (Joe Weimer, deceased), and two sisters (Joanne Weimer, deceased), and Miriam Weimer (Osterhoff). Larry was a 1959 graduate of Frankfort High School and a 1965 graduate of IU School of Optometry. On August 26, 1962 he married Karen Bowen and together they had three children: Jennifer, Suzanne, and Matt.
Larry worked for 39 years with Drs. Childress, Weigel and Lohmueller. He was active in the community as a Rotarian, member of the Chamber of Commerce, and sang in the choir at the Methodist church. Larry loved to read the Bible and everything he could get his hands on. He was a man of many hobbies such as wood carving, fishing, grilling, watching westerns, coin collecting, photography, riding motorcycles, playing chess, and spending time with his family. He was passionate about IU basketball and the Colts. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Joe and sister Joanne. Survivors include: Sister, Miriam (Dave) Osterhoff, Daughters, Jennifer (Don) Blankman and Suzanne Weimer; Son, Matt Weimer; and Grandsons, Michael and David Blankman.
