Metamora, IN — On Monday, November 23, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a two-vehicle, personal injury accident at the intersection of S.R. 1 and Duck Creek Road.
Through their investigation, Deputies determined that Dalton C. Beard, 21, of Sunman, was operating a 1998 Honda CRV eastbound on Duck Creek Road. Beard turned southbound onto S.R. 1, going into the northbound lane of travel, striking a northbound 1999 Mercury Sable. Thomas M. Robins, 83, of Laurel, was operating the Mercury Sable at the time of the collision.
Robins and his passenger, Monika M. Robins, 71, also of Laurel, were transported by Franklin County E.M.S. units to Margaret Mary Health for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident.
Beard was arrested at the scene and charged on an allegation of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Causing Serious Bodily Injury as a level 5 felony.
