Columbus, IN — Two Columbus men were arrested for felony attempted burglary after they were seen inside a Columbus storage facility with bolt cutters late Wednesday night.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., Columbus Police (CPD) officers were dispatched to Storage Express, located on Indianapolis Road, after a security officer spotted two men inside the facility carrying bolt cutters. The security guard advised police dispatch that he did not observe the men enter the facility through the front gate. CPD officers later located a hole that was cut in the storage facility’s fence.
After officers arrived, they observed the two men running away from the storage facility. The officers set up a perimeter and located James M. Kapetanios, 31, of Columbus a short time later. The second suspect, Matthew B. Herron, 39, of Columbus, was also apprehended with the assistance of CPD K-9 Argo. When the officers arrested Herron, they also located a pair of bolt cutters.
Both Herron and Kapetanios were charged on allegations of Attempted Burglary and Trespass. Kapetanios was also charged on an allegation of Possession of a Syringe.
