Bulldogs Middle School Hoopsters Start Off Season With Victories

The Batesville 7th-Grade Boys opened up the season with a victory over South Ripley 31-19.  The Dogs laid out stellar d in the first half getting numerous steals and dominating the glass. This effort propelled them out to a 21-4 halftime lead. The second half was a little closer but The Bulldogs outstanding effort ultimately prevailed them to a 31-19 victory. Scoring for Batesville; Luers (7), Maple (6), Drake (6), Clark (6), Raver (5), and Enneking (1).  

The 8th-grade boys’ basketball came out on top of a thrilling, overtime game at South Ripley by a final score of 51-46. The Bulldogs struggled early versus the Raiders falling behind 11-5 after the first quarter. Key minutes by the players off the bench allowed the game to stay within 6 points as the team struggled with foul trouble all night. Carson Schneider led all scorers with 4 points at halftime with Bulldogs scoring just 12 points in the first half versus the Raiders’ 2-3 zone. The second half was a different story offensively. Cade Kaiser led the charge in the second half with 26 points in the final two quarters and overtime. Gage Pohlman and Jacob Stenger helped make key defensive stops and rebounds to secure the win.  

Scoring for the Bulldogs: Cade Kaiser – 29 points, Carson Schneider – 7 points, Carson Laker – 4 points, Gage Pohlman – 4 points, Jacob Stenger – 4 points, Will Jaisle – 3 points.   

The entire team fought all night and found a way to win their first game of the season versus the team that ended their season in the tournament last year. The 8th-Grade team will look to build off of that win heading their first home game at BHS versus Jac-Cen-Del on Tuesday, November 17.
