Melinda Sue Deckard

Melinda Sue Deckard, 54, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020 in Jackson, Georgia.

She was born July 27, 1966 in Dearborn County, IN, daughter of Judy (Vastine) Buffington and the late Robert Kincade.

Melinda was a member of former member of Aurora Moose Lodge . She loved to do puzzles, and games on her phone. She was a practical joker. Melinda was a very outgoing person, and she never met a stranger. She loved time with the family, especially her grandkids.

Melinda is survived by her loving spouse Joe Deckard, children, Shawn (Robert) Helmig of Aurora, IN, Christopher B. Helmig of Aurora, IN, Jayden Eaglin of Aurora, IN; step children, Justin Deckard of Madison, IN, Devin Deckard of Harrison, OH; siblings, Candida (David) Mitchell of Dillsboro, IN, Robert “Bobby” (Blaire) Buffington of Aurora, IN, Vicki (David) Prather of Willisburg, KY; step-sister, Mary Katherine (Matt) Schwartz; seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Kincade, step son, Joshua Deckard, step sister, Laura Jean Buffington.

Friends will be received for a visitation on Friday, September 18, 2020, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, Indiana.

Private family funeral services will follow.

Interment will follow in the Hogan Hill Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana.

Due to the current situation dealing with COVID-19, we are following the directives from Governor Holcomb and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention concerning large events and mass gatherings.
