Dorothy J. Redelman

Dorothy J. Redelman, 94, Greensburg, passed away from natural causes on April 10, 2020 at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg.

Born, July 13, 1925 in Decatur County, she was the daughter of Joseph B. Schoettmer and Frances (Thewes) Kuntz.

Dorothy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the St. Lawrence Auxiliary in Greensburg.  She was a homemaker and had worked for several years at the Day Care Center in Greensburg.

Dorothy was very devoted to her family.  She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed quilting, and was an excellent cook.  She volunteered at local nursing homes, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister, prayed in the Adoration Chapel, and helped with bereavement meals.

Dorothy was married to Elmo A. Redelman on May 8, 1948 and he preceded her in death on March 8, 1988.

Dorothy is survived by five daughters; Diane (James) Deiwert, Greensburg, Karen (Steve) Stier, Batesville, Mary Jane (Maurice) Bedel, Greensburg, Linda (Jack) Blake, Greensburg, Rita (Chris) Gutman, Cedar Falls, Iowa, one brother; Robert J. Schoettmer, 10 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step father; Joseph A. Kuntz, daughter; Patricia Redelman, six brothers; Edward, Anthony, Raymond, Alfred, Lawrence, and Leonard Schoettmer, two sisters; Marie Herbert, Lorina Krieger, and three grandchildren; Lisa Blake, Melissa Moffett, and Beth Ann Deiwert.

Due to the recent public health safety mandate of limited gatherings, a private graveside service will be held for the immediate family at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

A memorial Mass will occur at a later date.
