The Trojans finished the season with a record of 13-8 which was a 6 win improvement over their 7th-grade year. “Each player on this team bought in, did exactly what they were told to do, and improved daily. This was a very fun group to coach, and I am very proud of each and every one of them.” Trojans coach Thomas Meyer.
Batesville’s 8th Grade Boys’ basketball team fell just short to East Central in the SEI Tournament Championship at South Dearborn. It was a slow start offensively for both teams as the halftime score was 12-9 in East Central’s favor. The Bulldogs lost Conner Drake midway through the second quarter due to injury, but the team rallied together to make a run late and give themselves a chance. In the fourth quarter, Batesville started adding a lot of pressure and creating a lot of turnovers. The Bulldogs had a couple of chances late to tie the game, but ultimately fell short as Gus Prickel hit a 3 point shot in the final seconds to make the final score 29-28. Offensively, Gus Prickel and Carter Bohman led the way with 8 points apiece, followed by Jack Grunkemeyer (4), Sam Johnson (4), Conner Drake (3), and Chris Lewis (1). 8th grade finishes the season at 11-8 and runner-up of the SEI Basketball Tournament.
