The St. Louis 5th grade girls continued their winning ways Thursday, January 23 with a 44 to 9 win over St. Michael’s Trojans. The Cardinals once again jumped out to an early lead behind a good defense that created an number of turnovers and allow the Cardinals to enjoy a 21 – 6 halftime lead. The Cardinals would put the game away early in the 3rd quarter behind 10 of the team-high 16 points from Ella King. Mimi Smith also had a complete game contributing 14 points and numerous assists while Madden Showalter added 7 points as well. This takes the Cardinals record to 2 – 0 on the season. The next game will be the home opener for the Cardinals as they have a rematch with St. Mary’s North Vernon Wednesday night January 29 at 6 pm.

Thursday Night, The Cardinals traveled to Brookville to face off against St. Michael’s. The Cardinals had an excellent defensive game, holding St. Michael’s to 0 points the entire game. The Cardinals won 15-0, bringing our record to 2-2. Leading in scoring was Rachel Suttmann with 5 points. Bridget Lohmueller and Cora Roth netted 4 points each and Karsyn Watson scored 2. The 6th grade is in action again Wednesday, January 29, for their first home game, taking on North Vernon.
North Decatur Girls 8th Grade Basketball beat Southwestern High School 42-31. Kunz leading scorer with 20 and several rebounds. Ogden with several assists and 12 points. Motz and Abrams each with 2 points. Stier with 6 points. The Lady Chargers had several good fast breaks resulting in quick scoring.
