Dale Ellinghausen – Sunman

Dale Ellinghausen, of Sunman, was born on September 17, 1935 in Dearborn county, a son to Albert and Elsie Nieman Ellinghausen.  He served his country in the United States Army and later became a truck driver.  Dale married Arleen Richter on June 4, 1960 and together they raised five children.  He was a life-time member of the Milan VFW Post #6234 and the Sunman American Legion Kenneth L. Diver Post #337.  Dale enjoyed gardening, frying chicken, coon hunting, and playing cards.  On Sunday, September 15, 2019 at the age of 83, he passed away at his residence surrounded by loved ones.

Those surviving who will cherish Dale’s memory include his wife of over 59 years, Arleen Ellinghausen; two daughters, Dinah (Ron) Hoffmeier of Guilford and Dawn (Greg) Lewis of Sunman; two sons, Danny Ellinghausen and Dennis Ellinghausen, both of Sunman; two brothers, Albert Ellinghausen, Jr. of Ross, OH, and Harold Ellinghausen of Batesville.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Crystal Louden, Josh Hall, Nathan and Brett Hoffmeier, Zack and Parker Lewis, and Tyler and Trevor Ellinghausen, and seven great-grandchildren, Dylan, Alexis and Kaylee Louden, Levi, Ryker and Koltin Hall and Rilynn Hoffmeier.  Besides his parents, Dale was also preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Hall; a brother, Delmar, and a sister, Ruth Marie Jenner.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman.  Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Sunman.
