West Harrison, In. — Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter has named Motor carrier Inspector Michael Buckley as the 2018 Indiana State Police Ralph Ray Reed Motor Carrier Inspector of the Year.
Buckley works at weigh stations in West Harrison and Seymour.
MCI Buckley’s immediate supervisor, MCI District Coordinator Kimberly Hill said, “MCI Buckley has an excellent work ethic and is highly motivated. He has dedicated his adult life to serving the citizens of Indiana in every way possible. He is a highly competent, capable, and a professional inspector. He always conducts his enforcement activities in a firm but fair and unbiased manner. He is a great representative of the Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.”
The criteria used to select the Ralph Ray Reed MCI of the Year goes beyond statistics, however, in 2018 MCI Buckley had the following:
- 793 Commercial Vehicle Inspections
- 87 Out-of-Service Violations
- Made 5 public appearances at events such as job fairs, carrier safety meetings, and recruit testing events
- Recovered 2 missing children/runaways in two separate events while working the Seymour Weigh Station
MCI Buckley, a 2016 graduate of the Indiana State Police Motor Carrier Inspector Recruit Academy, is a native of Rushville, IN. MCI Buckley came to the Indiana State Police after retiring from the Rushville Fire Department where he served 32 years and retired as a Captain.
MCI Buckley and his wife currently reside in Decatur County where they are currently serving as foster parents for three young sisters. They also have six adult children and three grandchildren.
