Cardinals Track Season Opener At SR

Saint Louis Track & Field kicked off their season in beautiful weather on Monday, April 8 at South Ripley. They competed against teams from Rising Sun and Milan in addition to the host Raiders.
The Cardinal teams put forth great effort and were rewarded with some impressive results.
The Girls’ team took advantage of a balanced attack to win what was a very close competition – St Louis outscored 2nd place South Ripley by 2 points and 3rd place Rising Sun by just 3 points, with Milan merely 8 points behind that.
St Louis scored points in every event of the night. Each athlete scored points for the team, achieved a personal record, or both.
 Event winners were:
Kate Weber – 1600M run
Isabelle Wonnell – 800M run
Isabelle Wonnell, Sadie Wachsmann, Abbey Wuestefeld, Kate Weber – 4x400M relay
 2nd place finishes went to:
Sadie Wachsmann – 800M run
Allie Savage – 200M dash
Kate Weber – High Jump
 3rd place was claimed by:
Sadie Wachsmann – Shotput
Allie Savage – Long Jump
Allie Savage – 100M dash
Kate Weber – 400M run
Hope Kroen, Ella Moster, Allie Savage, Lilly Schebler – 4x100M relay
 4th place was earned by:
Ella Moster – Hurdles
 5th place went to:
Sadie Wachsmann – Discus
Isabelle Wonnell – High Jump
Lilly Schebler – Hurdles
Ella Moster – 100M dash
The Boys’ team was unable to overcome the disadvantage of being severely outnumbered, and had to settle for a 4th-place finish. However, each athlete scored points for the team, achieved a personal record, or both.

Christian Mack – 400M run
The Cardinals continue their season with two meets next week, at Jac-Cen-Del and at Switzerland County.
