Leroy “Steve” Stephenson, 88, Greensburg, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. He was born on September 17, 1930 in Patriot, Indiana, the son of Roy and Lena (Titkameier) Stephenson. He was married to Jacqueline “Jackie” Stephenson on August 5, 1963 and she survives. Steve graduated from Bradley University and then served in the Marines as a sergeant during the Korean War. He opened the Stephenson Jewelry Store in Greensburg in 1953 and worked as a jeweler there until his retirement in 2015. He was a member of the American Legion, The Masonic Lodge, United Methodist Church, the Indiana jewelers Association, and the Watchmakers Association. Steve loved to play golf and he was a former member of the Greensburg Country Club. He loved to play the banjo, garden, and he loved animals. He never met a stranger. He is also survived by one son, Matthew Stephenson, Greensburg; one daughter, Andrea (Michael) Prager, New Hope, PA; two grandchildren, Stephen and Anna Prager. He was preceded in death by his parents. Public visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 to 11:00 a.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Private funeral services will be held later for the family. Interment will be held in the South Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Decatur County Animal Shelter.
