Martha Ellen Spangler, age 77 of Osgood, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Manderly Health Care in Osgood. The daughter of Geneva Foster (nee: Jolly) was born on August 24, 1941 in Carlisle, KY. Martha married Van Spangler in Jeffersonville, IN on August 9, 1957.
Martha was a homemaker raising their 6 children. Over the years she worked outside the home for the Greensburg Public Schools, Walmart and then Pamida in Batesville. Martha enjoyed going to flea markets and out to play bingo. She could be found sewing, quilting or even out fishing somedays. Mostly Martha loved her time with her family especially her grandchildren. She loved her dogs like family too. Her family will dearly miss her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Van; three daughters, Shelley Snapp (Thomas) of Osgood, Rhonda Bennett (Chris) of Lake Santee, IN and Melinda Abel (Todd) of Indianapolis, IN; three sons, Mike Spangler (the late Lea) of Franklin, IN, Van Spangler Jr. (Juanita) Bean Station, TN, and Gary Spangler (Janet) of Batesville, IN; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; along with brothers Billy Foster, Johnny Foster, David Foster and Perry Foster and sisters, Kathy Walton, Sandy Hamilton and Margie Foster.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister Jo Rankin and her granddaughter, Kimberly Gayle Spangler.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 11am-1pm immediately followed by 1pm funeral service all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Rev. Shawn Crisman officiating. Burial will follow in the Rossburg Cemetery.
