Elaine Everage Kemker, 92, of Milan passed away at 9pm, Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. She was born at Hyman in Knott County, Kentucky on October 23, 1926 the daughter of Aster and Polly Ann Morgan Everage. She was married to Lee Kemker on August 28, 1946 and he preceded her in death on January 2, 2004. Survivors include one son Bill Kemker of Milan; two daughters Diane Gordon of Rexville, and Linda (Joe) Scoggins of Milan; 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Pat (Claude) Morris of Moores Hill and Reva Everage of Milan, and special nephew Brad Everage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her grandsons Jason Kemker and Tommy Gordon, her granddaughter Stacey Erdman, and her brothers RC, John Paul, and Carter Everage. Mrs. Kemker was a 1945 graduate of Versailles High School. She was a former employee at Camp Atterbury and had also worked as a secretary in Cincinnati. She also worked as a secretary for the Jesse Taul Insurance Agency in Versailles, as a dietician for Ripley Crossing in Milan, and was the owner of the former White Pine Restaurant in Versailles. Elaine was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milan and was a former member of the Versailles Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 5pm on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Milan with Rev. Harris Long officiating. Visitation will begin at 3pm, also at the church. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church or Camp Woodsmoke in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
