Rita Mae Ridner, age 75, of Osgood passed away early Friday December 21, 2018. Rita was born on March 23, 1943, the daughter of the late Dallas Russell and Ellen (Barnes) Ogden. She grew up along with her brothers and sisters in the Osgood community. She graduated in the first class of 1961 from Jac-Cen-Del High School. After graduating high school, Rita worked for 38 years at the US Shoe factory in Osgood, then worked for 6 years at J & J Packaging in Sunman. She was a proud and faithful member of the Osgood First Baptist Church.
Rita was the true meaning of a lady. She had a feisty side and was not afraid of hard work. Rita also enjoyed the finer things in life like country music, traveling both near and far, and a good cold beer. Above all though, her greatest joy was to be with family and friends, chatting about anything and everything. She was passionate about her love for her family and always concerned with the wellbeing of others — offering a smile, a kind word, a hug, or a small gift to cheer someone up. Rita knew few strangers and was blessed with many life-long friendships.
Rita is survived by son Paul (Theresa) Rork of Fairland, granddaughter Heather Renee of Indianapolis, grandson Christopher Paul (Ashley) Rork of San Diego, CA, great-granddaughter Josephine-Ann of San Diego, CA, along with brothers Melvin and Doug (Debbie) Ogden of Osgood, and sisters Linda Sue, Bonnie Kay, and Tina Louise, all of Osgood. Rita is also survived by her close and dear friend, Jerry Burton.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 26 from 4-7 p.m. at Neal’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 27 at 10 a.m. at the Osgood First Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Allen. Burial will follow at Greendale Cemetery. Doors to the church will open at 9 a.m. Memorials may given to the church building fund.
