Coming off of a 2 game home win streak, the Greensburg Pirates hosted the Hauser Jets and fell 3-2. After a very odd start to the game due to some goals being called back on the Jets, Hauser was able to put one in (that counted) off of a penalty kick. Greensburg had several chances, but couldn’t find the equalizer before half. After halftime, the Pirates were able to get on the board thanks to a goal by Collin Springmeyer, his first of the season. The Pirates found Nicholas Zapfe on the outside and he was able to cross it in for Collin to tie the game up at 1-1. It was Zapfe’s 3rd assist on the year. Later in the half, senior Vincent Pavy slipped through the Jets defense and put away his 7th goal of the year to give the Pirates a 2-1 lead. Unfortunately, moments later, the Jets slipped passed the Pirate defense and were able to get a cross off that was put in for the equalizer. With under 8 minutes to play in the game, the Pirate defense broke again. Hauser got a good look from just outside the 18 and were able to bury the game winner. Though Greensburg had a few more scoring chances, they couldn’t capitalize. The loss pushes the Pirates to 2-6 on the season.
