The Batesville 7th Grade Volleyball team lost to cross town rivalry St. Louis: 25-23 and 25-12. Margaret Wilson led the team with 3 aces and great dig from the back row. Following was Renee’ Lecher and Sydney Slavin with 2 aces, and Elena Kuisel with 1 aces. Kaylin Hinners had 5 good serves and no misses. Kaylie Raver led the team with 3 kills. Lecher and Slavin each added 1 kill each. Annie Shane and Laura Schwegman each had one good hit. Sara Lamping and Taylor Blanton played strong at the net. Their record is 3-6. The BMS 8th Grade Volleyball team started sluggish, but perked up to beat St. Louis 25-10, 25-11. The Bulldogs had strong serving. Cayman Werner served 17 straight points including 14 aces in game 1. Laney Walsman added 10 points, with 7 aces. Isabelle Westerfeld add 5 points with 3 aces, and Kaitlyn Sarringhaus earned 2 points. Jadyn Harrington and Werner each earned 3 kills from the front line. Tiffany Hawker added 1 kill. Timbre Davies, Samantha Kessens, and Kennedy Westrick were all reliable in their solid play. Ashlee Cornn supported the team although she was unable to play. The St. Louis Cardinals 7th Grade Volleyball team came out on top against the Batesville Middle School Bulldogs 25-23, 25-12. In the first set, the Cardinals and Bulldogs was trading points back and forth until Kate Weber served 7 straight points to push the Cardinals ahead. Then the Cardinals fell on their heels to allow the Bulldogs to control the game until Izzi Price was able to serve 3 aces in a row to help the Cardinals to win the first set. The 2nd set was controlled by the Cardinals from the first serve. Isabelle Wonnell led the team with 10 points followed by Kate Weber 9 points, Maggie Beiser 6 points, Izzi Price 5 points, Lilly Schebler 2 points and Ingrid Tuveson and Ava Owens with 1 point each. Catherine Streator commanded the net for the offense as Ella Moster and Rhea Miller passed the ball solidly to help setup the plays.
The 8th Grade Lady Cardinal St. Louis Volleyball team was defeated by the Batesville Middle School Bulldogs 25-10, 25-11. The Cardinals started off strong in the first set but struggled to pick up the Bulldogs serve. Audrey Beiser and Mary Hunter led the team with 3 points each followed by Megan Raab and Ingrid Tuveson with 2 points each. Emma Livers had the only kill for the game. Ella Moster, Rhea Miller and Izzi Price was good support on the court for the team so Maggie Beiser could set the ball.
