The junior varsity Bulldogs faced off with the Shelbyville Golden Bears. The game was competitive, but ultimately the Golden Bears came away 3-2 victors. Batesville was on the scoreboard first however with just around 10 minutes gone by in the first half. Dillon Murray received the ball near the opponents goal box, played a give and go with Eli Pierson which led Murray through to goal, and then simply passed the ball into the corner of the goal from close range, giving the keeper no chance at stopping it. Only a few minutes later, with 21:58 remaining in the first half, the Golden Bears would equalize. A free kick was played into the box and the Batesville defense and keeper were unable to deal with it. The shelbyville player simply took a touch and passed into an empty net. Batesville would regain the lead minutes later with the clock reading 16:48 off of a corner kick taken by Cody Sims. The corner was played near post, flicked on by Dillon Murray, and finished off by Manav Patel who tapped the ball in off of the goal line to make the score 2-1. It wouldn’t take long for Shelbyville to even the score again as it became 2-2 with 11:34 remaining in the first half. The golden bears played a ball over the top of the Bulldogs defense for a breakaway and finished into the far post corner of the goal. The half would end 2-2. Injuries and illness struck the Bulldogs hard in the second half. Down to just 1 substitute in the second half, the Bulldogs continued to fight and leave it all on the pitch, but they just ran out of steam. With 26:52 a Shelbyville player was just afforded too much space near the edge of the box which enabled him to get his head up and score from a very nicely taken shot to the far post. The game would end 3-2 with Shelbyville as the victors.
