In the second half, it was all Lady Bulldogs. Batesville outshot Seymour 16-1 in the second half and 27-8 for the game. The Lady Bulldogs came out ready to play in the second half and took a 2-1 lead just 2 minutes into the half. Werner notched her second goal of the game off an assist from Liz Heidlage who was able to break through the Lady Owl defense and find Werner open on the 6 yard box. With 29 minutes to play in the game, Batesville played add-on to make it 3-1. This time it was a scramble in front of the goal after a corner kick, and Batesville’s Denise Davalos was able to poke it through the congestion and into the back of the net. 8 minutes later, Werner was able to complete her 2nd hat trick of the season on an unassisted goal. With :31 seconds on the clock, it was Gratz who would notch the 5th and final goal for the Lady Bulldogs after a nice move from Hailey Mohr to take the end line and find Gratz open in the box for a bang bang play with the opposing goalkeeper.
Coach Kyle Laker commented on the game saying, “I was extremely impressed with our defense tonight! Seymour is a strong team and has some talented forwards. They played lock down defense throughout the game, but stepped it up even further in the second half to make it an easy night for goalkeeper Ellie Waechter who recorded 5 saves. Our team will continue to work hard until the final whistle and tonight was no exception as we scored in the final minute of the match.”
Batesville will be back in action on Tuesday, as they host the Lawrenceburg Lady Tigers. The JV match will start at 5:00 PM.
The Batesville JV Lady Bulldogs defeated the JV Lady Owls by a final tally of 2-1. Scoring for the Lady Bulldogs were Catherine Raab and Ashley Nobbe.
