Decatur County, In. — Indiana Department of Transportation officials say work on a $2.6 million project that includes seven bridge or smaller structures on State Road 3 and S.R. 7 will begin by replacing the existing culvert on S.R. 3 at Poplar Root Creek, located 8.6 miles north S.R. 7 next Tuesday, September 4- weather permitting.
The Decatur County operation south of Sardinia will close State Road 3 for up to 20 days. A signed detour routes motorists around the site via State Road 46, U.S. 31 and State Road 7.
Dave O’Mara is charged with installing the 4-sided precast concrete box culvert measuring 9 X 18 feet. The new State Road 3 culvert’s length is 56 feet.
Replacement of a State Road 3 small structure at Wyaloosing Creek, located 16.1 miles north of State Road 7, north of Westport, will be scheduled after the Poplar Root Creek culvert is put in place.
