Gregory Starr Cooley, 64, Laguna Niguel, California died Monday, July 30, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Greg was born to Harold and Dorothy Cooley, December 10, 1953, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He spent most of his childhood in Batesville, Indiana. He was proud to be a Batesville Bulldog, scoring 482 points during his varsity career and playing on the 1971 semi-state team. After graduating from Indiana University with a degree in accounting, he moved to California. There he met and married Sharon Kuegel November 3, 1979. Greg, Sharon, and family returned to Batesville and operated Greg Cooley CPA, an accounting and tax firm, from 1984-1988. After returning to California, he was President & CEO of Eibach Springs in Corona, CA for 20+ years.
Greg loved his family and friends, and he will be remembered for his kind, humorous spirit. He was a quiet leader who truly believed we all could change the world through our actions. He embraced adventure and especially loved the mountains and the beach.
Greg is survived by his wife Sharon; one son: Jeremy; two daughters: Stephanie Fraser (Matt) and Sarah Tillman (Brian); eight grandchildren: Cody, Boston, and Beckett Brennon, Gregory Tillman, Willow, Harper, and Axel Fraser. He is also survived by three sisters: Susan Stein (Gregg), Ann Salatin (Randy), and Beth Montgomery (Brent); and one brother Ted Cooley (Kathy).
A family memorial service for Greg was held on Sunday, August 5 in California. On Saturday, August 18, there will be a memorial service starting at 10:00 at the Weigel Funeral Home. After the service there will be an opportunity to visit with the family from 11:00-12:00. A private burial service for the family will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Huntersville. The family requests memorials to the Batesville Athletic Boosters.
