Virgil Hensley, of Milan, was born on August 21, 1930 in Harlan, Kentucky a son to Thomas and Octava Thomas Hensley. He married Ida Mae Cloud in October of 1984 and she preceded him in death on August 22, 2008. Virgil worked as a welder at Hill-Rom, retiring on August 27, 1992 after 40 years of service. He enjoyed working and spent time woodworking, gardening and farming. Virgil loved his cat, “Blue” and enjoyed spending time with his family. On Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the age of 87, he passed away at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville.
Those surviving who will cherish Virgil’s memory include his daughter, Diane (Milton) Hopper of Moores Hill; two sons, Neil (Joann) Hensley of Owensboro, KY, and Kevin (Patricia) Hensley of Milan; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great, great-grandchildren; the mother of his children, Lovetta Broughton of Sunman; 4 stepchildren; 3 nephews and one niece. Besides his parents and wife, Ida, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Jim Hensley, and one sister, Polly Williams.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 4 until 8 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman. Virgil’s nephew, Rev. Dennis Williams will officiate the service on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Sunman.
