Elmer L. Pruss of Dillsboro

Elmer L. Pruss, 92, of Dillsboro passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in Fort Pierce, Fl.  Elmer was born Sunday, January 24, 1926 the son of Walter and Emma (West) Pruss.  He married Joyce Hooper, June 17, 1950, and she survives.  Elmer graduated from Dillsboro H.S. in 1944.  Elmer served our country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Pasig from August 1944 until July of 1946.  After service he worked at Jefferson Proving Grounds for 30 years until his retirement in 1983. Elmer was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church at Farmers Retreat and Friendship Legion Post #0247.

Elmer is survived by his wife Joyce,  sons  John (Linda) Pruss of Farmers Retreat;  Thomas (Cindy) Pruss of Aurora;  daughter Janet Ransom of Bellevue, KY;   and son Alan Pruss  of Farmers Retreat;  brother Glenroie (Marie) Pruss of Farmers Retreat, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by brother Norman Pruss and sister Elvarene Fox.

Services will be 11AM Saturday, June 30, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Farmers Retreat with Pastor Garry Wickert officiating.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, with full military rites provided by the Friendship Legion Post #0247.  Visitation will be 10-11AM Saturday also at the church.
