Marilyn Sue Schantz, of Sunman, was born on June 4, 1948 in Batesville, the daughter of Martin and Mabel Zimmerman Beneker. After graduating high school she earned her degree in nursing, and had a long career as a registered nurse. Marilyn married David A. Schantz at St. Peters Church together they had three children. Her primary goal in life was caring for her family, especially her daughter. She was known for sending friends and family cards remembering their special occasions. Marilyn was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed reading. On Friday, June 22, 2018 at the age of 70, she passed away at Mercy Health in Fairfield, Ohio.
Those surviving who will cherish Marilyn’s memory include her husband; David Schantz of Sunman; children, Cindy Hines of Batesville and Dale Schantz of Morris; sister, Jeannie (Joe) Turnpaugh of Goshen; two brothers, Keith (Ruth) Beneker of Cross Lanes, WV, and Steve (Linda) Beneker of Osceola, and her step-mother, Evelyn Beneker of Brookville. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Schantz.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 4 until 8 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman. Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home and burial will follow in St. Peter’s Catholic Church Cemetery.
