Betty Ann (Schmidt) Hallgarth, 83 , of Versailles passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018. She was born the daughter of the late Edward and Sadie (Young) Schmidt on December 12, 1934.
Betty was a graduate of the Napoleon School class of 1954. Shortly after graduation, she met Charles D. Hallgarth and the two of them married on July 18, 1959. They moved and spent the next 40 plus years together until his death in 2003.
Betty’s pride and joy were her dogs and they became like children to her. One of her favorite things was to just sit and pet “Angel” and enjoy life. She liked raising African violets and sewing in her free time.
She is survived by brothers Donald (Pauline) Schmidt of Batesville and Edward (Sharon) Schmidt of Osgood; sisters Ida Jones of Osgood, Delores (Aaron) Rolf of Milan, and Sharon (Ronald) Shockey of Indianapolis; sister-in-law Jewel Schmidt of Milan, brother-in-law Robert Flint of Columbus, and also her puppy, “Angel.” Betty was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her parents, brother Charles, and sister Viola Flint.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood. Rosary services will be held at 5:00 pm. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, also at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 31, at 10:00 a.m. at St John Catholic Church in Osgood. Memorials may be made out to Ripley County Humane Society, Breast Cancer or American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
