Cincinnati, Oh. — A report from WCPO says Cincinnati police report that shootings are down 48-percent compared to the same time last year. This year 56 shooting investigations have been conducted while last year at this time there had been 108.
The report says violence in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Avondale is down significantly. This year, there have only been two shootings reported.
Police officials credit the decrease with the implementation of the ShotSpotter, police presence and neighborhood partnerships in neighborhoods for the decrease. The ShotSpotter uses microphones to listen for gunshots and then directs police to the suspected crime scene.
