Purda “Purdy” Hunt Jr. 85 of Dillsboro passed away Sunday March 25, 2018 at Highpoint Health at Lawrenceburg. Purdy was born Thursday March 31, 1932 in Wheatley, Kentucky the son of Purda and Avarilla (Kidd) Hunt. He married Hazel Marie (Hon) Hunt June 27, 1952 and she preceded him in death January 9, 1996. Purdy was a US Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a shift supervisor at Chevron for many years. He was a member of the Dillsboro Methodist Church, the Hopewell Masonic Lodge #80 F&AM, and Scottish Rite Indianapolis Chapter. He liked trap shooting, bird hunting, wood working, riding his John Deere lawn mower, sitting at the Liar’s Table (Table of Knowledge) at the Reservation and spending time with all his family.
Purdy is survived by sons Randall Wayne (Rhonda) Hunt of Dale, IN; Bruce Edward (Kimberly) Hunt of Aurora; daughter Belinda Sue (Eric) Huntington of Versailles; brother Clarence ( Ramona) Hunt, brother-in-law Robert (Carolyn) Hon, sisters Ora Lee Schwade, June (Ted) Agnew, and Ann Combs; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sister-in-laws Gladys Hunt, Juanita and Betty Hunt, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday March 29, at 11AM at the Dillsboro United Methodist Church with Pastor Deb Beason and Rev. Tom Fehrman officiating. Burial will follow at New Liberty Cemetery at East Enterprise with full military honors by the Northcutt-Laaker Legion Post #292 of Dillsboro. Visitation will be 5-7PM Wednesday at Filter-DeVries-Moore Funeral Home at Dillsboro. Masonic services will be at 7PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
