Mark A. Prickel, age 86 of Morris, died Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at his residence. Born November 18, 1931 in Ripley County Indiana, he is the son of Matilda (Nee: Zillebuehler) and Nicholas Prickel. He married Arnelda Scheele October 24, 1953 at St. Louis Church and she preceded him in death March 4, 2004. A lifelong farmer, Mark was a member of the St. Anthony’s Men’s Choir and long time choir director, a member of the Eureka Band, a Fourth Degree Knight with the Batesville Knights of Columbus Council #1461 as well as serving as County Commissioner for two terms and three terms with the Batesville School Corporation.
Mark enjoyed watching Purdue basketball, Notre Dame football, the Bengals, rabbit hunting in his younger years and was a league bowler for many years. What he loved most was spending time with his grandchildren and working on the farm.
Mark is survived by daughters Jane Tekulve and Brenda Meyer, both of Batesville, Judy Kinker of Greensburg, Nancy Prickel, Mary Jo Reer and Diane Dierckman, all of Batesville; sons Mike, Matt, and Luke, all of Batesville, Marvin of Chicago, Donny of Batesville; 28 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he is also preceded in death by sisters Sr. Mary Luke Prickel O.S.F., Connie Prickel-Metz, Marcia Werner and brothers John D. and Jerome.
Visitation is Monday, December 18th, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 19th, at St. Anthony’s Church with Rev. Shaun Whittington officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Connie Prickel-Metz Scholarship Fund.
