Greensburg, In. — Life-long Decatur County resident Rick Underhill has officially entered the race for sheriff. The 27 year veteran of the force has served as a detective and a lieutenant and will seek the Republican nomination.
Underhill will take his message of “Experience, Dedication and Integrity” to the people. He plans to improve collaboration between agencies, maximize the current skills of officers and attack the substance abuse problem. Underhill also says an increased presence in small towns is needed.
Underhill is a 1981 graduate of Greensburg Community High School and served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman. After working in a local grocery store he became a reserve deputy, served as the Westport town marshal and joined the sheriff’s department full-time in 1990. He is married and has an 11-year-old son.
