Men sentenced after escaping from Fayette County Jail

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ind. — Both men that escaped from the Fayette County Jail last June have been sentenced.

Chadwick Heath, then 39, and Michael Roberts, then 27, cut a hole in the jail wall and fled at night on June 17.

Dayton police caught the two on June 21.

Roberts was sentenced a month after being captured and received four years for escape, 10 years for burglary and three years for theft, and 10 years for being a habitual offender.

Heath has been sentenced recently after pleading guilty on one charge from his original arrest as well as the escape charge.

He was sentenced 12 years for dealing in a narcotic drug but will serve eight consecutively with the six-year sentence for escape.

Heath’s mother, Paula Potters, was also arrested because she gave aid to the pair the night of the escape. She was sentenced to two years but will serve 20 days.

The jail wall has since been repaired and all cell walls have been strengthened.
