Pirates Track Results At EC Invite

The Greensburg Boys Track and Field team opened the Indoor season at the East Central Indoor Invite. The Pirates earned two individual first place finishes along with a relay first place. Overall it was a solid day to open the season and it was great to see freshman perform well in multiple events and relays. The top performers and ribbon earners from the meet were:

1st place.

4x800m relay team of Reid McClintic, Kevin Johnson, Hunter Butz and Jared Hasselbring in 9:20.68; 800m Run: Hunter Butz 2:20.06; 400m Dash: Daimon Austin 58.57.

Zach Pokrzywinski was 4th 55m Dash in 7.12 and 3rd in both the High Jump (6′) and Long Jump (18′ 9″).

1600m Run. 4th – Jared Hasselbring 5:12.01 and 5th Kevin Johnson 5:15.05.

Sprint Medley Relay. 5th – Jadrian Woods, Ares Merritt, Shawn Partlow and Isaiah Myer in 1:49.19.

400m Dash. 6th – Isaiah Myer 1:00.82.

4×400.

3rd A squad of Jadrian Woods, Daimon Austin, Hunter Butz and Reid McClintic in 4:10.87; 5th B squad of Jared Hasselbring, Shawn Partlow, Devin Imel, Dylan Brown in 4:29.33; 6th C squad of Blaine Schroeder, Dallas Crank, Eric Fisse and Logan Woodruff in 4:34.17.

Shot Put. 4th – Tanner Yonts 42′ 1/2″ and 5th – Dylan Cain 41′ 1 1/2″.

Again, there were many solid performances not listed in the top six for their event. We are looking forward to an exciting season. A partial squad will be in action next Friday night at DePauw.

The Lady Pirates opened their season at the East Central Indoor Invitational Saturday, March 4. It was a very successful way to begin the season with 3 Individual Championships, 4 Runner Up Championships and 6 Indoor Personal Records.

The meet began with Lily Grimes and Erin Browning dominating in shot put as the Champion and Runner Up. Grimes threw an indoor PR with 38’6 and Browning’s measured to 34’7. Other Champions included Cameron Jones in the mile with 6:09.58 and Cathy Newhart in the 3200 at 12:49.63.

Individual Runner Up Champion in the 55 Hurdles included Ashlynn Meyer in 9.69 while 3rd place went to Mary West with a new indoor PR of 9.71. The 3200m Relay team, including Morgan Winkler, Julia Ankney, Newhart and Jones, placed 2nd with a time of 11:13.18. Also earning the red ribbons were 1600m Relay team members of Rylie Smith, Jaylin Hampton, Jones and Meyer. Indoor Personal Record breakers included Emily Lowe in shot put, Winkler (1600), Jones (800), and Meyer (200).

All the Ladies did great for their first meet of the season. Some of the girls will be back in action Friday the 10th at the Depauw HSR Qualifier.
