BATESVILLE, Ind. — INDOT is recommending that residents along state and US highways make good use of the warmer temperatures over the weekend to prepare their mailboxes for the winter.
Snow and ice removal is INDOTs number one priority in the winter months.
INDOT’s plow trucks often travel slower than the speed limit, and snowfighters are careful to avoid mailboxes with the plows, but despite their best efforts, the weight of snow thrown from plows can cause damage to mailboxes with weak supports.
