RIPLEY COUNTY, Ind. — Wednesday morning, at approximately 6:55 am, the Indiana State Police responded to a single vehicle personal injury crash on I-74 near the 157 mile marker.
Both occupants of the vehicle were injured and transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
According to police, a pickup truck, being driven by Johnathan A. Orr, age 32, Greensburg, Indiana, was traveling eastbound on I-74 near the 157 mile marker.
Orr is believed to have lost control of the vehicle after a tire on the vehicle became deflated.
The vehicle entered the median of I-74 before overturning and rolling into the westbound lanes of I-74.
The vehicle came to rest in the middle of the westbound lanes.
Orr sustained serious injuries in the collision.
He was air lifted from the scene to University of Cincinnati Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
A passenger in Orr’s vehicle, Joshua L. Sangl, age 27, Saint Paul, Indiana, sustained injuries in the crash.
He was transported by ambulance to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville, Indiana for treatment.
The severity of the injuries to both occupants is unknown at this time.
The westbound lanes of I-74 were closed for approximately one hour for crash investigation and cleanup.
The eastbound lanes of I-74 were closed briefly during the investigation.
