The 7th Grade St. Louis Cardinals traveled to East Central on Thursday to take on the Trojans in their first game back after Christmas break and several snow days. Both teams struggled to shake off the rust, leading to a low-scoring affair where baskets were hard to come by.
Despite a valiant effort, the Cardinals were unable to overcome a late push by the Trojans, who secured the 17-12 victory with clutch free throws in the fourth quarter.
Cam Walke led the Cardinals with 7 points, while Brock Scheibler added 3, and Evan Jennings contributed 2 points.
The Cardinals look to bounce back Monday when they travel to St. Lawrence.
