DECATUR COUNTY, Ind. — Tuesday, the Napoleon fire department alongside Greensburg, New Point, and Marion Township fire departments were called to the 3000 block of south US 421 just north of Napoleon for a fully-involved structure fire.
According to fire officials, the small barn was a total loss and caused damage to an adjacent shed that had started to burn as firefighters arrived.
The fire was quickly knocked down, and no one was injured.
According to the homeowner, Adam Hahn, he lost several chickens in the fire and a couple of lawn mowers.
The cause of the fire was attributed to heat lamps being used for the chickens.
Fire officials would like to remind everyone to be cautious about how you use portable heaters or heat lamps in the cold weather.
