Roosevelt ‘Ted’ Wetzel, age 83 of Lake Santee passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026. The son of Donald E. and Hattie M. (Young) Wetzel was born on December 24, 1942 in East Liverpool, Ohio.
Ted served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Greensburg American Legion Post 129.
Ted loved being outside and gardening on his potato farm. In fact, after the war, Ted and his family, with their close friends, the Trevellines, opened a few hot dog shops around the Youngstown, Ohio area. They actually used the potatoes directly from the farm for the fries at the restaurants for many years. Ted also enjoyed woodworking and building houses. That’s actually part of what he did for a living as a contractor and property manager. Ted owned and managed various apartments since the 70’s, along with the help of his dear friend Diana Dalrymple, whom he thought of as a sister.
Ted reunited with and married his sweetheart, Margaret Owens Stewart in February 2003 in Florida. She passed away in 2018.
He is survived by his children William (Mary Ann) Main, Samantha (Michael) Woods and Soni Potts; grandchildren, Patrick (Cassie) Caudill, Alexis (John) Dorsey, Gabrielle (Chris) Rosario, Mickayla (Ray) Woods, Donald (Brianna) Woods, Madyson Main, Jake Main, Natasha Littrell, and Robert Littrell; 24 great grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Wetzel and extended family and life long friends Diana and Don Dalrymple and the Trevelline Family.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Chloe Gurklies, Donna Wade, Dora Debise, Carolyn Lowery, Donald Wetzel, Joseph Wetzel and Leroy Wetzel.
His wishes were for cremation, and there are no services at this time.
Family and friends may share memories or messages of comfort for Ted’s family in the online guestbook at www.meyersfuneralhomes.com.
