Hoeing Throws for Loss– Next Start Unclear

HOUSTON–  Batesville native Bryan Hoeing made his second Miami Marlins pitching start of the past week Wednesday.

Hoeing went 3 innings for a second straight game, this time allowing 5 runs, 4 of them earned, on 8 hits, with 1 walk and only 1 strikeout, as the Astros went on to win, 9-1.

Informed observers say it isn’t yet clear for a couple reasons whether Hoeing will get a start close to home, when the Marlins visit the Reds for 3 games beginning Friday, the last 3 before the All-Star break.

Of course each starter needs a few days’ rest between games, but the other side is the fact that most of Miami’s regular starters are so injured, they’re nowhere close to being able to pitch anytime soon.

Manager Skip Schumaker’s pleased with Hoeing’s attitude about the whole thing, saying Bryan’s willing to do whatever the team needs.
