Cardinals fall to Greendale

Greendale was the Cardinals opponent on Thursday evening. It was a hard-fought defensive battle again with Greendale scoring two points in the first quarter and four points in the second quarter. For the Cardinals Isla Padgett had three points in the first quarter and two in the second to end the half with 5. Down by one point, the Cardinals entered the third quarter. The Lady Cardinals battled hard and Isla hit one of two free throws while Katie Hammond and Heidi Schneider added a bucket each. Greendale put up four points in the third. Going into the fourth quarter it was tied 10 -10. A chaotic but exciting quarter at the least. Fouls, stolen balls, blocked shots, time-outs, everything you could ask for in an exciting game. Greendale went up by 6 with 2 minutes to go. Sophia Hillenbrand hit a basket and Isla Padgett followed it up with another. With the Cards down by two, they brought the ball down the court and were fouled resulting in an out-of-bounds play Under the basket. The last-second shot came up a little short, causing the Cardinals to take a loss.
