Joseph Alan Bruns

Joseph Alan Bruns, 44, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on April 14, 2023.

He was born on June 18, 1978, in Covington, Kentucky, to Glenn and Karen Bruns.  He grew up in Liberty, Indiana, where he graduated from Union County High School.  He earned a bachelor’s degree from Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and was a certified public accountant.

After college, Joe lived in Fishers Indiana, and, in 2011, he moved to Chicago where he met and married the love of his life, Amy (Pinter) Bruns.  Last year, they became the proud parents to Arthur Thomas.  Their love and devotion as a family was unequivocal.

Joe was brilliant in the areas of finance and accounting.  When not hard at work, Joe enjoyed traveling, sports, playing cards, boating, working out, and going for walks with his family. Most of all, Joe loved spending time with family and friends.  Famous for his dad jokes and selfless character, he became instant friends with everyone he met.  Joe was a captivating soul who will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife Amy Bruns, son Arthur Bruns, parents Glenn and Karen Bruns, brother Jason Bruns, sister Jordana Hickman, and nephew Joel Bruns. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Thomas and Virginia Prinz and maternal grandparents Howard and Mary Jane Bruns.

A Mass will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Brookville with Father Vince Lampert officiating. A visitation will be held from 8:45 until 10:15 a.m. and a sharing time from 10:15 untill 10:45 a.m. on Friday at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home ~ 929 Main Street ~ Brookville, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Arthur’s College Fund with checks payable to Amy Bruns.
