Helen Josephine Kramer, 82, of Greensburg, passed away December 29, 2022, at Morning Breeze Nursing Home in Greensburg.
Born June 2, 1940, Helen was one of nine children born into the family of the late Joseph and Lenora (Zapfe) Diekhoff. She graduated from North Vernon High School in 1958. She married Raymond C. Kramer on June 2, 1960, at St. Denis Church. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1994.
She was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she served funeral meals. She was also a member of the St. Lawrence Ladies Auxiliary for many years and volunteered for six years at Morning Breeze, prior to her Parkinson’s diagnosis. Throughout her life Helen was dedicated to her family, friends, and her church. She was strong in her faith and generous by nature. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Those left to honor her memory include four sons and six daughters: Gary (Rose) Kramer, Alan (Teresa) Kramer, Roger (Jennifer) Kramer, Marvin (Tina) Kramer, Anita (Dan) Scheidler, Sheila (Mike) Kirchhoff, Susan (Jeff) Springmeyer, Lisa (Eric) Wagoner of Rushville, Angie (Kevin) Weber of Osgood, Julie (Aaron) Corbett of Greenfield. Twenty-Five Grandchildren and Twenty Great Grandchildren with one more arriving any day and two more coming in 2023. She is survived by brothers Art Diekhoff of North Vernon, Lawrence Diekhoff of Columbus, IN, Maurice (Barbara) Diekhoff of Tampa FL; and sister Esther (Eddie) Hill of Russiaville, IN. She will also be lovingly remembered by her brother in laws and sister in laws: Harold (Annie) Kramer, Norbert (Jean) Kramer, Rita (Bud) Meyer, Clara (Bob) Dwenger, Mary (Dave) Berkemeier, Kathy (Larry) Berkemeier, Jim Kramer, Jean Campfield, Carol (Larry) Bishop, and many, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Denise, and son-in-law, Steve Butz; her husband, Ray; her parents, Joseph and Lenora Diekhoff; brothers: Francis, Walter, Alfred and Bernard Diekhoff; and sister, Rose Ann Schwering.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, with Father John Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation for Helen will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, from 9:30AM until time of funeral. Rosary will be prayed at 9:00AM prior to visitation in the sanctuary at St. Mary’s Church. Visitation will be reception style in the gathering space at St. Mary’s Church in Greensburg, IN.
Helen has requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made, through the funeral home, to: St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
