Frederick E. “Fred” Brandt

Frederick E. “Fred” Brandt, 77, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021, in Aurora, IN.

He was born July 28, 1944, in Batesville, IN, son of the late Elmer and Mabel (Bucholz) Brandt.
He served his country as a member of the Air National Guard from 1965 -1971.. He graduated from Ohio College of Applied Science and continued his studies at the University of Cincinnati in mechanical engineering

He was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Aurora. He was confirmed at the church and served as an Elder. Fred was a member of the Road America Corvette Club. Fred was an avid racing fan. He attended every Indy 500 race since 1962, almost 60 years. He also loved NASCAR Racing and Drag Racing. He was a huge Indiana Basketball fan and of Bobby Knight. In his retirement years, Fred divided his time between Aurora and Ormond Beach, Florida.

Fred worked as a rural mail carrier for 30 years. He also owned his own machine shop. Fred’s greatest passion was to follow in his great grandfather’s footsteps, where he helped run the family farm. His true pride and joy was the time that he spent with his family and friends. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Fred is survived by his loving daughter, Anne Brandt, Indianapolis, IN (mother of Anne Brandt is Ada Brandt); brother, James E. “Jim” Brandt of Aurora, IN; beloved partner, Linda Bushman of Aurora, IN.

Memorial visitation will be Wednesday, December 29, 2021, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, IN.
