Deputy graduates from leadership academy

Sheriff Peter Cates, Deputy Bradley Lecher, and Major Gregory Mehlbauer

Brookville, IN — Deputy Bradley Lecher, of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, recently graduated from the Indianapolis Metro Police Department Leadership Academy. Back in January of 2020, Deputy Lecher began his Leadership Academy journey. Traditionally, this course is four months in length, but due to COVID related setbacks, Deputy Lecher’s journey continued until November of 2020 and ended in a non-traditional graduation.

The IMPD Leadership Academy is for seasoned or newly promoted officers. The curriculum, which is taught at the graduate level, focuses on solid documentation and excellent writing skills. The entire course is designed to build a leader around the concept of “Reader, Writer, Thinker, Fighter”. Students are taught employee personality assessments, leading with an outward mindset, as well as Situational Leadership.

Deputy Lecher joins three current Franklin County Sheriff’s Department graduates of the IMPD Leadership Academy, beginning with Major Gregory Mehlbauer in 2015, Sergeant Adam Henson in 2017, and School Resource Deputy Jason Lovins in 2018.
