Rushville, IN—Early Friday morning officers from the Rushville Police Department & Rush County Sheriff’s Department responded to a residence on Ft. Wayne Road in regards to a report of a male attempting to unlawfully enter a residence.
Upon arrival, officers saw the male on the roof of the residence and immediately identified him as Ezra Stearns, age 18. Stearns jumped off the roof and ran into a nearby cornfield and wooded area. Stearns also had an active arrest warrant for Felony Battery.
Officers from RPD, RCSD, and the Indiana State Police set up a perimeter in an effort to locate Stearns. A helicopter from ISP was also called in to assist with the search. A ground search to locate Stearns was unsuccessful.
Ezra Stearns has an active arrest warrant for Battery, and additional charges of Resisting Law Enforcement and Battery are pending.
