Eddie Dale Hopper, 82, of Vevay, IN, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2019, at Norton Hospital, Louisville, KY. Eddie was born on February 8, 1937, in Patriot, IN, a son of the late Kathleen (Chapman) and Cecil Hopper. Eddie attended school at the Allensville Grade School until the 8th grade. He later went on to obtain a degree in welding and worked for Granite City Steel Company in Granite City, IL. Throughout his working career, he was also employed by Adam’s Lumberyard in Fairview, IN and most recently, he operated his own lawnmower repair business. Eddie was a member of the Handyman Club of America and the North American Hunting Club. He enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, and was an avid racecar fan and attended the Indy 500 with his brother Dean.
Eddie is survived by daughter Paula Smith of New Lisbon, IN, son Troy (Crystal) Whitham of Salem, OH, brothers Cecil Hopper Jr. of Cincinnati, OH and Michael Hopper of Bright, IN, sister Barbara Hopper of Columbus, OH, 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Eddie is preceded by grandparents Clarence and Pearl Hopper and Alfred and Artie Chapman, brother Dean Hopper, stillborn sister Julie, and an unnamed stillborn sibling.
Funeral services will be 3 PM, Sunday, September 22, 2019, at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Visitation will be from 2-3 PM Sunday, September 22, 2019, at Markland Funeral Home.
