In yesterday’s blog I explained how it is determined that a sport is classified or open in Indiana sports. Today I will expound on the IHSAA’s reasoning for this. The IHSAA thinks that school size is not a problem if one person on your team can make it to the state. They think that having all the schools lumped together still allows the best athletes to move on whether their team does or not. The coaches association would like the class system so that more teams would be allowed to progress in the state tournament.
More tomorrow on this topic.
