Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) training is February 5 and 12 from 5:30 – 9 pm, and February 6 and 13 from 8 am – 4 pm at the Southeastern IN YMCA in Batesville. Prospective volunteers who want to aid children must fill out applications ahead of time. The 10th Annual Food and Growers Conference for Producers, Gardeners, and Consumers will be held at the Batesville Intermediate School on Saturday, February 6 from 9 am – 3 pm (registration at 8:30 am). This year’s topic is “Nurturing Our Ecosystems,” and will cover topics such as soil and pollinator habitats, weed and pest control, raising heritage poultry, your body (food as medicine), and your farm as a thriving business. Speakers will include Cheryl Carter Jones from the Indiana Grown Commission and Local Growers Guild, Mac Stone from Kentucky Proud, Michele Colopy from the Pollinator Stewardship Council, and others.
