William Raymond “Bill” Welch, 79,  of Aurora, IN, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 in Lawrenceburg, IN.

He was born Saturday, June 2, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Son of the late Walter Raymond Welch and the late Opal L. Stewart Welch.

Bill worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator  for Fernald, retiring after over 40 years of service.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping and woodworking.  His favorite pastime was time spent with his family.  He especially loved spoiling all of them from Dorothy to the children and on down the line to the great grandchildren.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are his loving wife of over 61 years, Dorothy CarriganWelch of Aurora, IN;  daughters, Vicki (Lee) Gardewing of Greendale, IN and Kim (Ken) Craft of Sunman, IN; grandchildren, Shae (Clint) Crocker, Misty (Sidney)  Bostic and Dustin Gardewing (Fiancé, Ashley Brown); great grandchildren, Carter, Ira & Ivie Crocker and Nina & Samuel Bostic, special cousin, Charlotte (Philip) Gilb and family.

Friends will be received 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, Aurora, Indiana.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Wednesday, at 10:30 am with Father Peter Galligher officiating.

Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery,  Aurora, IN  47001.

The Hogan Creek Watershed Project, along with the Dearborn and Ripley County Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) will be providing an educational opportunity for producers with grazing livestock.  The field day will be held on Friday, August 22nd at Jeff and Leah Meinders’s Farm, 3687 W. Co.
